Only 2100 miles ’til home!

After dropping off Steve in Aspen, we headed back to our campsite to look for my wallet. Though we didn’t find it, we did see two grey wolves run through the campground, confirming for me that I HAD seen a wolf run down the road the previous night. Wild! (Oh, and my wallet was later found in my shorts pocket in our dirty laundry bag.)

In order to get back to the highway, we had to drive along a very narrow, winding mountain road that led us to the Independence Pass and our highest elevation of the trip.

We made very few stops today, trying to get as far as possible. Finally calling it quits at 11:15pm, we stopped in Urbandale, Iowa, just outside of Des Moines. Both of us are exhausted, but also very ready to be home.
